PSP608 MD Jpatch echo controls setting

Welcome to the PSP608 MD Jpatch echo controls settings and JPatches!

This site is dedicated to a group of guitarist playing the music of Hank B. Marvin and the Shadows. The vintage echo's used in this type of music is accurate emulated through the PSP608 MD, a product from PSPaudioware , loaded with the Jpatch echo settings from this site.

In order to assure that the PSP608 MD Jpatch community can use the exact settings for the available backing tracks this site offers also a common understanding of the required settings by offering a database with recommended settings.

The PSP608 MD, is a plugin version of the vintage tape and disc-echoes like those that were used by Hank Marvin and others in the past. The Jpatches supporting this product are researched, developed, programmed and tested on a demo version by: Jacob Heijer and Piet Verbruggen.

Instructions:

There is only one library [ latests update 05-May-07] required that can be loaded into the PSP608 directly containing all the patches. select here to download the library to your Computer.

What's in the package?

The offered patches are created to be as close to a vintage machine as possible. for that we selected also to deliver them as mono patches. Great care what taken to assure they fit that requirement.

The patches are build according a structural approach so they are initial of the same footprint. This was chosen as the best way presenting the patches as it allows for a single feedback control and also by enabling the LNK function to change a complete set of parameters in one operation making adjustments easier . The display of the timing of the heads is adjusted so the timing is easy to see. Also, head 1 is seldome used as this is also the case in vintage equipement.
It is highly recommended to read and understand the PSP608 manual before changes are applied.

The dry/wet ratio is chosen so that the output stays within limits. Remember that the dry/wet [MIX] and reverb [AMT] are added together in the sound chain and should together stay within a particular limit to avoid distortion.

The filter for each head is chosen to be a bandpass as most guitarist are not using a real equalizer to remove the low's. The bandpass characteristics are made close to the vintage machines by comparing throughput characteristics of existing vintage machines or by simulating the electronics of the vintage machine with models build in SPICE.

For each head we've applied distortion [DRV] to a degree that it's comparable with reference machines. We've applied also a "poor man's" W&F on most of the patches by using the LFO functionality of the PSP608.

How to Install the JPatches?

The PSP 608 offers all of its preset management functions on a convenient Preset Bar at the bottom of the plug-in interface, right below the Master Feedback section. Here you will find all the controls to load, save, and select individual presets or banks of presets. The majority of the Preset Bar contains the controls for saving, loading, and selecting individual presets. The right side of the bar allows you to save and load Banks of presets. Below is a brief description of each control on the Preset Bar:

Load Preset Button
When you click the green floppy disk icon next to the word PRESET, you will be presented with a file dialog box asking you to select a preset to load. This preset will then be loaded into as the active preset. The previously loaded preset will still be present in the Preset Menu.

Save Preset Button
When you click the red floppy disk icon to the right of the LOAD PRESET icon, you will be presented with the Save Preset dialog box. After selecting a name and a location to save your preset, your PSP 608 preset will be saved to disk.

The results obtained from the database is displayed and the information under the heading "Select" like CG01 translates direct to the JPatch in your PSP608 to match the exact echo settings for the track(s) selected.
